National Institute of Justice -

This report conveys the best practices in regards to the academic and vocational education for offenders in state facilities. The report does not describe its methodology, but rather provides a citation for a methodology guide by the National Institute of Justice: CrimeSolutions.gov. The text concludes with the notion that correctional programs often lack scientific rigor to prove their effectiveness, however, this can be improved if policymakers provide more funding. The National Institute of Justice is the research, development, and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. NIJ’s mission is to advance scientific research, development, and evaluation to enhance the administration of justice and public safety.
