External Internships

Established in 2022, the Center of Crime & Justice Studies’ External Internship Program leverages the Center’s connections with regional criminal justice agencies and community-based organizations that serve the justice-involved population to create enriching professionalization opportunities for UCR students. Students are placed with their host organization for a minimum 6 month long internship. While the majority of internship activities take place within the host organization, the Center also provides supplementary opportunities—including group check-ins, office hours mentorship, and a networking luncheon—to help maximize students’ professional development and ensure they have the foundational knowledge to hit the ground running and facilitate their continued professional success. The call for applications is posted once annually, typically in early-Spring.
