Bringing Crime Trends Back into Criminology: A Critical Assessment of the Literature and a Blueprint for Future Inquiry

This article argues that crime trend research should be integrated into the core of criminology. It presents a blueprint on best practices for assessing crime trends. The research also recommends investment in data infrastructure in order to best track crime trends, fill in information gaps, and provide researchers better resources for crime reduction.
