Prop 25 Refrendum on law that replaced money bail with system based on public safety and flight risk

A general voter information guide presented by the California Secretary of State on Proposition 25.  The prop is a referendum on SB 10 and will determine whether the bill will go into effect. A "yes" vote means SB 10 will go into effect and a "no" vote rejects SB 10. Specifically, approval of this proposition would (1) eliminate release on bail, (2) create a new process for release before arraignment, and (3) change the existing process for release at arraignment. Ultimately calls for an end on bail release and instead only automatic release for low misdemeanor crimes, assessment for felony charges, and state trial courts responsible for assessment trails. The information guide was bipartisan as it presented fiscal impacts, general law revisions and current processes before prop implementation and after.

The Secretary of State's office is comprised of nearly 500 people who are responsible to making government more transparent and accessible in the areas of elections, business, political campaigning, legislative advocacy, and historical treasures.
