Effect of public safety realignment variables on the perceived employability of former offenders: public perception of the role of type of custody and program participation
Routledge Taylor & Francis Group -
This research article seeks to uncover the relationship between types of custody and program participation on perception of the employability of former offenders. The study utilized experimental methods in which participants were randomly assigned one of six conditions with manipulations in terms of custody types and program participation. Participants were asked to role-play as an employer and indicate their inclination to hire an applicant based on their description. Findings suggest that applicants that participated in the vocational program are more employable than those who did not. Additionally, custody type does not have a direct effect on employability.
