A California state status report submitted in response to a February 10, 2014 order regarding overcrowding in prisons. State provides capacities of prisons as of January 10, 2018, as well as a list of nine initiatives the state has completed or is in the process of to decrease prison populations and bring back inmates from out-of-state facilities.

The CDCR aims to protect the public from crime and victimization by enhancing public safety through the safe integration of offenders into our communities.
